Audio description (AD) can be interpreted as spoken word narration of key visual elements in a video and multimedia products. It was created to assist blind and low-vision individuals to better understand onscreen or onstage context, for example.
I like to use my medical background to AD medical devices, instrumentation and procedures. This helps both blind and sighted individuals get an insight into places that most people don’t normally venture, such as the operating room.

When Jill’s husband begins to lose memories of her, she’s faced with the possibility of placing Jim in a Memory Care facility, which she’s not ready for. But their deep love for each other and Jill’s willingness to ‘try something crazy’ bring them back together in an unexpected way. ID: A close-up view of an older white woman and man smile at each other as they lean in and their foreheads touch. Rays of golden light emanate from beneath their profiles. The book (an extension of the film) is available now on Amazon and Audible.
Sandra Manwiller was interviewed by Roy Samuelson, longtime audio describer and podcast host of the The ADNA Presents (Audio Description Network Alliance) for the YouTube video that she produced (below): an audio described vaginal delivery table set up, process and instrumentation.
